Pentagon prohibits Ukraine from using American missile to hit Russia

United States defence officials have blocked Ukraine from using long-range Atacms missiles to attack targets within Russian territory since the end of spring, according to a report published by the Wall Street Journal on Saturday. This decision is part of a Trump Administration effort to [...]
This decision is part of an effort by the Trump administration to persuade Russian President Vladimir Putin to engage in peace talks, the paper reported.
According to W SJ, the Pentagon has blocked the use of US-made Tactical Missile Systems (Atacms). Two American officials told the newspaper that Ukraine had been denied their use in at least one case, through a <x0-mechanism review” conducted by Elbridge Colby, the Pentagon's deputy secretary for politics.
This mechanism regulates the use of long-range US and European Allies weapons based on American intelligence or technology including British missiles Storm Shadow, according to two American officials and a British official.
Decisions for the use of Atacms belong to US Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth, the report said. These missiles have an action ray of up to 50 miles [305 km].
By WSJ, Ukraine had previously received permission to use these weapons within Russian territory in November, as troops from North Korea entered the war.
However, prior to taking office in January, Donald Trump had declared for Time Magazine that the decision to allow the use of American missiles for attacks in Russia was a mistake:
I don't agree much with sending missiles hundreds of miles to Russia. Why are we doing this? We're just escalating this war and making it worse. This should not be allowed to happen” Trump said.
Meanwhile, White House Press Secretary Caroline Leavet told the Wall Street Journal that Trump “has been very clear that the war in Ukraine must be completed”.
But during recent efforts to broker talks between Putin and Zelensky, Trump has acknowledged that war cannot be won without hitting the aggressor.
It's very difficult, if not impossible, to win a war without attacking the land of an conqueror,” he wrote Thursday.
It's like a great team in sports that has a fantastic defense, but it's not allowed to play the attack. There's no way to win”./Periscopi/
