According to OEK, based on preliminary data, the annual consumption of businesses involved in the free market is estimated to be around 550 GWh.
With current prices offered on the free market, this translates into a minimum cost of around 120m euros annually.
The latter reportedly resulted in an average damage of around 328 thousand euros a day, about 10m euros per month respectively, as a result of the ZRE court's failure to comply.
Full call:
The effect of the free market and the failure to comply with the Comercial Court's act of action ? real damage to production businesses
Kosovo's Economic Oda, together with its Association of Kosovo Producers, re-exerts that forced exit of businesses into the free energy market is creating serious financial consequences for the production sector and the overall economy.
Based on preliminary data, the annual consumption of businesses involved in the free market is estimated to be around 550 GWh. With current prices offered on the free market, this translates into a minimum cost of around 120m euros annually.
This results in an average damage of about 328 thousand euros a day, respectively, about 10m euros a month, as a result of the failure to comply with the ERE Comercial Court Act.
Another heavy financial burden for businesses is the demand of supply operators to pay in advance two months in deposit at the moment of signing contracts, estimated to reach about 20m euros before ready. Many businesses, due to lack of liquidity, have been forced to be financed by banks, paying additional interests.
Considering KEK bills, which have very short payment terms, it is estimated that during August alone, 2025 businesses will be obliged to pay about 50m euros in cash, including the amount of deposits.
This situation is significantly shrinking liquidity in the market, increasing business financial costs and seriously undermining sustainability and competitiveness of the production sector in Kosovo.
All the above mentioned values are calculated based on annual consumption and prices currently offered on the free energy market.
We are again seeking suspension of the ZRE's decision to free-market access to the country's economy, business protection and the most valuable asset citizen of the Republic of Kosovo.
Today's suspension of the ZRE decision is a patriotic act.
