The Split District Court has placed a month in custody the Croatian pilot and his girlfriend, the Serb from Kosovo, both suspected of spying.
According to the court's ruling, the detention measure was taken because of the danger of both affecting witnesses or destroying evidence. Meanwhile, the Serbian woman has also been placed on hold due to the risk of escape, as she is a foreign citizen in Croatia, Croatian media “Index” reported.
They have been questioned Wednesday and are being investigated by Croatian police and Europol. It is alleged that the pilot, who previously served in KFOR, has given his girlfriend information about KFOR troops' movements, which it has later forwarded to the Serbian List.
According to “Index” sources, he has provided his partner with information on the movements of Serbs in northern Kosovo since the end of 2022 to the end, including information on KFOR troop positions.
Investigators suspect the pilot has discovered important data regarding Zubin-Potokun, a tense municipality between the Serb and Albanian communities in northern Kosovo.
Also accused of exchanging information concerning the transportation of Dejan Panttiqi, a former Kosovo police officer of Serbian descent, arrested for involvement in attacks on CEC offices in northern Mitrovica.
