Suspects of the serious case are Mefail Shkodra and his two sons, Edonis and Engjull Shkodra, who have already been declared on the run by Kosovo Police. They are still on the run because they are not caught by law enforcement.
The regional police director in Gjilan, Agron Rukiqi, said yesterday afternoon at a media conference that for the murder of three people in Gjilan, police have taken all actions to make the localisation of suspected persons still on the run.
Asked about the details of this shocking case regarding the actions of suspects following the killings, he said the suspects at first have moved on.
“First they've moved on foot, we can't give more information”, said director Rukiqi, while announcing that one person has been arrested at the scene.
He said further that suspect Mefail Shodra has a criminal precedent with a total of 31 cases, such as files, blackmail, fraud, etc.
The alleged “person who has committed a criminal offense has a criminal precedent. There are cases of assault in five cases, corruption of order and public calm in two cases, cases of guilt, fraud in one case, threat in three cases, blackmail one case, obligation in two cases. The participation or organisation of the criminal group is one case and there is an offense in communications”, Rukiqi indicated.
The case attorney, Isuf Sadiku, at a news conference following the triple murder in Gjilan said it is still early to deal with motives.
I assure you that the case will be dealt with in professionalism and seriousness by the Constitutional Prosecutor in Gjilan”, he said.
A person in heavy seats at QKUK
Emergency Clinic Director at QKUKU, Nasser Syla, has indicated that a person injured in Gjilan on Sunday is in serious but stable at the moment.

Svechla and Haxhiu criticised for the justice system

The incumbent's Justice Minister, Albulen Haxhiu, has indicated that two of the suspects in the triple murder in Gjilan, Mefail and Edonys Shkodra had stayed in custody for only a few months between 21 June and 8 October 2024 with the interruption of detention by the Constitutional Court in Pristina.
“Based on information provided by Kosovo's Correcting Service, two of the suspects in the triple murder, have remained in custody for only a few months, from June 21st to June 2024, with a break in detention by the Constitutional Court in Pristina”.
According to her, this very short period of detention for serious acts indicates a serious problem in dealing with cases from justice organs.
A stay so short and a ban on detention can lead to tragic consequences as we saw today with the triple murder. The justice system should show maximum responsibility to protect the lives and security of citizens”.
and incumbent Interior Minister Xhelal Svecla expressed shock at the event and conveyed condolences to the victims' families, while sharply criticising the Prosecutor and the Judiciary for, as he said, toleration to serious crimes.
He stressed that the prime suspect had been arrested last year for faults, but had been released, demanding that institutions reflect and no longer have any tolerance against criminals.
In this serious event, I cannot help but be extremely indignant with the treatment that justice institutions, such as the Judiciary Prosecutor, are making such cases free of charge. According to information, the main suspect in today's murder has been arrested last year by the Kosovo Police for faults, while negligence and tolerance on the part of the justice system are bringing us to the point where we are today.
It is the last time these institutions will reflect on no tolerance for any criminal or criminal activity. Citizens should have a guaranteed state of security, not feeling afraid of”, Svechla wrote.
But who is Mefail Shkodra?
At the end of June 2024, following a Kosovo Police action in Gjilan, Mefail Shkodra and his son Edonnis Shkodra were arrested under suspicion of “criminal actsGuilty and task”.
Both, along with another well-known man Albert Malisheva, were suspected of having exerted pressure and threats against a victim aimed at financially benefiting from their illegal actions, causing material damage worth over 600,000 euros to the victim.
After the arrest, Mefail Shkodra and his son, Edonis Shkodra, were detained at the prosecutor's order for 48 hours.
“During the police operation in quality of material evidence has been seized three cars, sports engines, weapons and ammunition, euro bills, various documents, as well as other material evidence that will be used in criminal procedure against suspects”, Kosovo Police reported after the action.
Social networking did not lack exposure to the luxury life that Mefail Shkodra did. Expensive cars, expensive watches, brand clothes and gold accessors are on display in their posts.
Suspects Mefail and Edonis Shkodra, especially, are known for their car passions costing hundreds of thousands of euros.
