Communication:
Violent liberalisation risks firing off over 22 thousand workers and seriously hitting the country's economy
Kosovo's Chamber of Commerce and Industry reiterates strong indignation and opposition to the Energy Regulatory Office decision, which has ordered The KEDS is starting to shut down hundreds of businesses that have not agreed to unacceptable and harmful conditions offered by licensed companies, while the rest have made temporary agreements, are pending court decisions and the founding of the country's new institutions, the Assembly and Government.
This arbitrary and irresponsible move is increasing the consumption prices of the country's two million citizens and risking the dismissal of at least 22 thousand workers, seriously hitting their families, the domestic economy and social stability in the country.
In any other country, such a threat to job loss would trigger immediate alarm. In Kosovo, unfortunately, institutions are choosing to remain silent, making themselves aware of the serious consequences expected.
The consequences of this step will be dramatic: closing business activities, losing local production, increasing import, price hikes and further poverty of citizens.
Kosovo's Chamber of Commerce and Industry re-searches for the last time urgently from the country's institutions to intervene and stop this violent and unfair process, which risks destroying the foundations of our economy.
