Among the organizations that have been added to the list are cartels, but also Ansar Allah of Yemen, or the rebels Huth.
Pesident Osmani said Kosovo stands close to the US in the fight against transnational organised crime and terrorism, drug cartels and criminal regimes “because the American leadership makes the world safer”.
“History shows a simple truth: When America leads, there is more peace, more security and more global freedom. Kosovo will always stay close to the US to advance this vision and to try to fight all those who endanger the national security of our most important ally”, Osmani wrote.
The decree mentions the two executive orders of Trump issued in January of this year. Through these orders Trump placed a number of cartels and other groups on the list of foreign terrorist organizations.
Which organizations and cartels is this?
On January 20th, he issued the executive order to access the list of foreign terrorist organisations: Cártel del Golfo , Cártel de Jalisco Nueva Generación, Cártel de Sinaloa, Cártel del Noreste, Carteles Undo, La Nueva Family Michoacana, Mara Salvatrucha (MS-13) and Tren de Aragu.
Meanwhile, through the January 22nd order, the U.S. again declared the terrorist organisation Ansar Allah, or the Huth rebels in Yemen. This group has Iran's support.
During his first presidential mandate, Trump had declared rebels Huthi to be foreign terrorist organisations, but that decision had been abolished by the Joe Beden administration because of concerns that this could prevent the sending of necessary aid to Yemen.
Even in the past, Kosovo has harmonised the lists of terrorist organisations with those declared by the US. Such a step was taken in 2020 when he declared Lebanon's Hezbollah a terrorist organization. /Radio Free Europe/
