Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has said he will not issue territories to Russia, while marking National Flag Day.
Zelensky said the flag was a “purpose and dream for many Ukrainians in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine”.
They carry the flag. They hold it because they know we will not give our land to an conqueror”, he said.
He added: “This flag symbolizes the most beloved thing for our hundreds of men and women from all over Ukraine that protect not only a specific frontline direction, not just Vovchansk or Dobroupillia, but all Ukraine”.
The ceremony was held on the eve of Ukraine's Independence Day and the country's top officials participated.
Otherwise, Zelensky has repeatedly called on Putin to meet with him, saying it is the only way to negotiate the outcome of the war.
