This political use of this humanitarian operation in Weyman, in which the KSF was allowed to contribute only after the approval received by KFOR commander has sparked fierce reactions of foreign ambassadors to Kosovo.
The German Embassy in a reaction had written that it is deeply concerned by efforts to politicise today's deployment of a specialised Research and Salvation Team from the Kosovo Security Force in Weyman.
The tragic loss of a young man's life should be a moment of collective grief, not a case for political points”, said in response. France's ambassador Olivier Guerot had reacted in the same spirit.
For this political use of this event by the ruling party and for the propagandistic conglomeration that was made to this KSF deployment in Wyman, the newspaper Express has asked questions at KFOR's address. In a response by KFOR's Office for Media, they have said they initially want to express their sincere condolences to the 33-year-old family and friends who were found dead on the Lake of Wyman.
KFOR in this response to Express has indicated that this operation in Weyman had temporarily authorised only 10 members of the team for KSF's search-saving, authorisation done at KFOR's careful assessment.
“First, we want to repeat our sincere condolences to the deceased's family and friends.10 members of the KSF's Research-Peace Search were authorised to temporarily deploy to the North to help his search. Such authorisations are always subject to a careful assessment by KFOR”, KFOR have said in response to Express, broadcast Periscope.
In the end, they say that, in accordance with the mandate, they will continue to provide freedom of movement for all communities and also continue to interact with Kosovo institutions, in strict compliance with respective tasks and mandates.
“In line with our mandate, KFOR will continue to provide a safe environment and freedom of movement, consistently and impartially, for all communities living in Kosovo. This will also continue to include co-operation with institutions in Kosovo, in strict compliance with their respective roles and mandates”, has concluded the answer by KFOR./Periscope/
