War-released organisations organise today at five o'clock in Pristina a popular protest against, reportedly holding unjustly the former Kosovo Liberation Army leaders in The Hague.
A day before the protest against injustice, in support of former Kosovo Liberation Army leaders being tried in The Hague, officials of the War Veterans Organisation (OVL – UÇK), indicated that all steps have been taken to organise the protest, including co-ordination with citizens and transportation organisation.
We have been communicating with our structures and with many citizens. For those who want to participate in the bus protest, we have decided that the Pristina parking lot near the Youth Palace will be ready for their” reception, said Gazmend Syla, deputy head of OVL KLA.
Syla stressed the importance of participating citizens in this protest to express support for fellow fighters who, according to him, are being unjustly tried in The Hague.
“I use my case to invite all citizens who co-operate with us and fellow fighters who today are being tried unjustly at The Hague to participate in the protest. To send a clear message not only to them but also to the international community, that they are not alone. We'll always be willing to come to the support whenever the need is required” Syla added.
The protest has been warned as a peaceful rally, with the motto “Against injustice”, to witness solidarity with KLA leaders in custody at The Hague.
The protest has found great support from all relevant Albanian factors, including political parties, MPs, nongovernmental organisations and numerous citizens.
Former KLA leaders Hashim Thaci, Kadri Veseli, Jakup Krasniqi and Rexhep Selimi are in custody in The Hague since November 2020. They are accused of war crimes for which they have been declared innocent of all points of indictment.
Judgment against them began on April 3, 2023.
