Kosovo, Albania and Croatia are taking concrete steps to live up to co-operation in the field of defence, formalised five months ago with the signing of the joint declaration on 18 March in Tirana. Currently, countries are moving to another phase, building a stronger and more stable alliance in the security field.
The defence ministers of the three countries are engaging in the first purchase of arms to be the one with the defence capacities, through a co-ordinated arms agreement from the United States.
In Kosovo's Defence Ministry, even confirmed for RTK that such a trilate meeting has already been held.
“is held the joint meeting for drafting trilateral activities under the agreement, including the issue of joint acquisitions based on the demands of each state's forces. Once this plan is completed, it will be signed by each state to continue further”, confirmed Liridona Gashi, spokeswoman for the Ministry of Defence.
In this regard, former Kosovo Security Force Commander Kadri Kastrati has said this agreement is extremely good, pointing to the importance of joint arms purchase.
When they buy three countries for once, it's the much smaller cost, it's much easier, and any producer of any military weapon will be more tempting to supply at once. When they have both NATO and Washington's vows, then normal that producers will be very happy and many expeditions to the liter of weapons much faster and much better”, said Kadri Kastrati, former KSF commander.
Given the strategic importance of partnership with the US for the security and development of the Kosovo Force, the former KSF colonel considers the alliance with the US vital for the military's future.
Whatever it is, the leaders of the state, whoever it is, should have the national and national interest of the country, especially in the sense of protection, because if you don't have any protection powers, you're nothing. The military is the one to defend the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Kosovo and its constitutional order, and this can only be achieved if we are in strong partnership with the US,” said Africa Veselin, former colonel in the KSF.
Meanwhile, within the framework of purchases and capacity-building of the Kosovo Security Force, two weeks ago at Kazerman “Adem Jashari” in Pristina has become the surrender of the second container of 50 autoblinaries purchased by the United States Army for KSF./Periscopi/
