Co-operation between Kosovo and Albania institutions in the area of security has often brought positive results.
The two states have successfully completed another extradition process.
This institution showed Dukaagjini television the total number of extraditions.
Within the first six months this year, 39 extraditions have been realised, out of them 15 extraditions from Kosovo to other states, while 24 extraditions from other states to Kosovo.
The work of Kosovo institutions in this direction is considering good connoisseur of security issues, Refki Morina.
This goes through the Ministry of Justice, in co-ordination with the courts, and the extradition of persons is made if we have been seen with Penal Code as a criminal offense. Also, extradition occurs with states that have bilateral agreements with them”, said Refki Morina, the security expert, reports Tedugjini, broadcast Periscope.
Meanwhile, Valdet Hoxha shows what hinders Kosovo in this area.
“Obviously, that obstacles are huge because of Kosovo's non-membership in Interpol and Europol, then even non-membership in the Council of Europe, not having all countries bilateral agreements for extradition. However, Kosovo is also very active by issuing warrants through international mechanisms or friendly countries”, said Valdet Hoxha, security expert.
During 2024, 77 people have been extradited from Kosovo to other states and vice versa. While three transitary extraditions have been carried out through Kosovo's territory, which brings the total number to 80. /Periscope/
