IK The KPS said that a case of death has been recorded as a result of AIDS, which is the most advanced stage of HIV infection (Human Immmunodudy Virus).
“19 new HIV/ AIDS (16 male-gender cases, 3 female cases)
1 case of death as a result of AIDS”, said the announcement.
From 1986 to 2025, I The KSHPK said 234 cases and 53 deaths in Kosovo were recorded as a result of HIV/ AIDS.
Further, the Institute of Health revealed what should be known about this virus and how it is carried.
“
What should you know? HIV is the virus that attacks the immune system, and if it is not treated, it leads to the most severe stage of infection.
There is no healing, but with regular treatment, positive HIV can live long and healthy and not carry the virus to others”.
“
How is HIV carried? There is a common use of syringes/gyls from mother to child during pregnancy, childbirth, or breast care.
HIV is not carried through: hug, hand-tightening, common food, water, air or mosquito bite”.
To prevent infection, I KSHPK also showed the measures.
“
Prevention: Use only sterile injection tools to test regularly at the centers for voluntary counseling and testing (free, anonymous, confidential)
Testing centers are found in: QKUK Convention Center UP, Pristina NGO Labyrinti (Pristina, Prizren, Gjilan) ) CSGD Pristina”
