IHMK: July of this year's hottest month ever in Kosovo, records in Kline broke

Kosovo's Hydromeorological Institute has indicated on Monday that record temperatures above 40 degrees Celsius were recorded in July. The maximum “10 degrees of 42.4 °C in Kline and 42.3 °C in Han, Elez, are unprecedented in the country's climate history and show a major deviation from the multi-year average for this month”, [...]
The maximum “10 °Vs of 42.4 °C in Cline and 42.3 °C in Han, Elez, are unprecedented in the country's climate history and show a major deviation from the multi-year average for this month”, the Institute said through a Facebook post, showing that the July average in Kosovo was between 30 and 35 degrees Celsius.
Before July 2025, the highest temperature was ever recorded in Prizren in 1987, 40.8 degrees Celsius.
According to the Institute, the July figures of this year are confirmation of scientific warnings for accelerating climate change.
The growth of extreme temperatures is one of the most direct consequences of global warming. Climate models and international reports (e.g. , The IPCC predicts that Southeast Europe, including the Balkans, will face more heat waves, long droughts and rare but intense rainfall. July 2025 coincides with this tendency, reflecting an increasingly unstable climate and tasked with thermal energy”, is said in the Facebook post.
The institute has also mentioned the effects of high temperatures, saying that they have increased impacts of thermal-heated diseases, cardiovascular problems, stress for vegetation, animals and water emissions, as well as economic damage to agriculture and increased energy consumption for cooling and risk for infrastructure.
The July 2025 climate development <x0). The responsible institutions must empower meteorological monitoring, urban planning, early warning systems and environmental policies to minimize future risks”.
