Igor Popovic has pleaded guilty to the criminal act that is placed on him, while the Special Prosecutor has handed over to court the plea agreement, which will be considered by the court during the hearing.
The decision to approve or reject this agreement will be made after the court's assessment, in line with legal provisions in force.
So Popovovic, assistant director in the so-called Office for Kosovo in Serbia's Government, has been filed an indictment by the Special Prosecutor, following his arrest last month by Kosovo Police.
The arrest came as a result of a speech given in Rahovec's Great Hoça, where he allegedly used stimulating languages against the Kosovo Liberation Army and other ethnic communities in the country.
According to the indictment, on July 18, 2025, at a public rally in Rahovec, Popovic gave a content speech that, according to the Prosecutor, promotes hatred and interethnic divisions.
In his statements, he is said to have stressed that the “Serbs suffered here in the Rahoveci region... and do not allow anyone to declare occupants”, calling for the Greater Hoca and Rahoveci to remain Serbian”.
The prosecution estimates that through these statements, Popovic has fostered distrust and reluctance between communities in Kosovo, violating constitutional order and interethnic co-existence. /Periscope
