Iran-backed group said several other top officials were killed when the Israeli Protection Forces (IDF) targeted Yemeni's capital, Sana, on Thursday.
The IDF said at the time it attacked a “military target” of Huth in the Sana area, failing to provide further details.
Howth has controlled most of the northwestern Yemen since 2014, after it ousted the internationally recognised government from Sana and triggered a devastating civil war.
The Hhuths said Rahawi had been killed along with some Huth ministers, though he did not mention others.
Saudi Arabia's al-Hadath news site reports that the Huth foreign minister, as well as justice ministers, youth and sports, social issues and jobs, were killed.
The office of Mahdi al-Mashat, the Huth president, said several other ministers “received moderate and serious injuries” as a result of the attack.
She added that Muhammad Ahmed Miftah, Deputy Prime Minister Hutti, would take on Rahawi's role.
Rahawi had held his post since August 2024 and was viewed primarily as a major figure of movement instead of being part of the highest decision-making circle planning military operations.
Abdul-Malik al-Hothi, the final leader of the movement, as well as the group's defence minister and chief of staff, was not told they were among the victims in Thursday's attack.
The IDF has yet to comment publicly on recent developments.
Since the start of the war between Israel and Hamas in Gaza, the Huthites have regularly launched missiles towards Israel and have targeted commercial ships at the Red Sea and the Gulf of Adden, saying they are acting in solidarity with Palestinians.
Israel, on the other hand, has carried out air strikes on targets in the parts of Yemen held by the Huthites, with the intent to limit the attacks of Huth.
Last week, Israel said it had hit Huth's targets in Sana in response to the movement's missile attack, which, according to Israel, contained crushed ammunition.
