GDP: In 6 months of country's impasse, around 300m euros in losses for Kosovo

The Kosovo Alliance of Business (AKB) says it strongly condemns the severe economic consequences the country has suffered due to the institutional deadlock and violation of the Constitution, according to the UN, from the largest party in the country, which for six months in a row has proposed the same candidate for chairman, in opposition to the founding law of the state. GDP through a Facebook post, says this deliberate political crisis has paralysed state decision-making, prevented the functioning of institutions and caused major losses in any sector from production and export, foreign investment and strategic projects.
“Political and judicial uncertainty for six months has brought about 300m euros in direct losses, declines to 25% of production capacities, suspension of international contracts, and evacuation of foreign investors. These are not just statistics. There are thousands of lost jobs and dozens of businesses on the verge of default”, the UN report said.
The Constitutional Court's decision only confirms that the right has been clear from the beginning, but this conclusion is too late for the economy. Kosovo has lost millions and the trust of international investors”, the GDP emphasises.
The GDP requires all institutions and political forces to end such practices, respect the Constitution and guarantee institutional stability.
“Economia cannot be held hostage to political bargains every day the impasse is a fatal blow to the country”, said the UN communiqué. /Periscopi/
