After being put to the polls, with five votes per, one against and several abstentions, the Certificate of the civic initiative “Pristina's introduction” was rejected.
CEC member from the Democratic League of Kosovo Sami Hamiti said the appointment of the civic initiative “The introduction of Pristina” is contrary to the principles of the certificate of political subjects, as he said it is very similar to the context and historical identity of the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK).
He stressed that the “League of Pristina” was used by the LDK itself in the past, specifically in the 2017 elections, where it was part of the party's official communication on its page.
The director of the Office for Recording, Certification and Financial Control of political parties in the CEC, Besnik Buzhala, said that although at first there have been serious doubts about the appointment “Pristina's license”, following deepening legal and practical reviews, they have concluded that there is no legal basis to reject the certificate of this political subject.
Otherwise, the Central Election Commission today decided on the Certificate of the third group of 39 political subjects, of which 25 civic initiatives and 14 independent candidates, for participation in the 12 October local elections.
According to CEC data, the total number of candidates, representing these political subjects, is 380, out of whom 25 candidates for mayors and 355 for members of the Communist Assembly.
