US goods enter without customs duties in Kosovo, these are criteria to be met

Kosovo customs has provided some clarifications as to what criteria must be met so that goods are imported for free customs tariffs.

This decision, although representing a unilateral move on the part of the Republic of Kosovo, which has the primary goal of facilitating trade with concrete benefits for both businesses and the country's consumers, is of particular importance even in strengthening and advancing relations in the trade and economic sphere in relation to the United States”, said the announcement.

On the other hand, it is stressed that the decision to apply customs tax at zero rate for US-born goods is based on Law No. 04/ L-163 and Customs Code No. 08/L-247, so on this basis, goods imported by the US and which meet the preferential origin criteria, since the date of its entry into force of decision and publication in the official newspaper 01.08.2025, can be imported to the customs territory of the Republic of Kosovo free of customs duties.

In order for these goods to benefit from this favourable treatment, the same as the import case should be associated with:

• Valid certificate of preferential origin issued by American authorities
• Statements of the origin of the bill, in line with the law in force of both countries.

All goods imported from the United States by the date 01.08.2025, which meet the criteria to be treated as preferential goods of origin, but since the moment of import did not benefit this treatment, they would undergo procedures for remalging customs duties, in line with the provisions at power”, become known in the communique.
