The executive director of the American Economic Ode in Kosovo, Arian Zeka, has spoken of the consequences the decision to liberalise the energy market will have on business.
He has estimated that this will affect the shift of some businesses to the countries of the region.
In an interview for Kosovapress, Zeka has declared that businesses in Kosovo are facing difficulties.
From what we're seeing from Customs data, even regular reports published on Customs and AK, we see there is a deterioration in the trade deficit. After the decision on liberalising the energy market, reducing or increasing the cost of operation for production businesses, leaving a portion of them, as has been warned, shifting the activity of their production to countries in the region, I expect the trade deficit to deepen further. Our industrial base will be further reduced, local production activity, further reduced in turn in our market to increase circulation or import growth from other countries”, he said.
