Elez: So far, 10 political subjects applied, with 64 candidates

Ten political subjects, of which two civic initiatives and eight independent candidates have submitted their application to the Central Election Commission to be certified for participation in the 12 October local elections.

This data has been released by CEC spokesman Valmir Elez, who has announced that there are only three days left until the deadline for submitting the list to the candidates' names is completed.

“So far, 10 political subjects, of which 2 civic initiatives and 8 independent candidates have applied to be certified for participation in local elections, which will be held on October 12th 2025. The overall number of candidates, representing these political subjects, is 64 candidates, out of whom 5 candidates for mayoral mayors and 59 for members of the” municipal assembly, Elesi reported.

According to him, at the next meeting, The CEC will review recommendations prepared by the Office for Recording, Certificate and Financial Control of Political Subjects and will make separate decisions for each application.

“Passy has accepted these applications, the Office for Recording, Certificate and Financial Control of Political Subjects (ZRCKFSP) has taken legal steps to verify candidates in co-operation with various state institutions according to their legal responsibilities and has prepared recommendations for the certificate. At the next meeting, The CEC will review and make special decisions for each application”, Elesi told EO.

According to Elez, political subjects have the full right to decide in which municipalities will participate in the elections and determine for themselves whether to run for mayoral elections or for the Municipal Assembly or for both in a certain municipality./Periscopi/
