Incumbent Deputy Minister Hysen Durmishi has commented on the handover of Lieburn Aliu's letter of resignation from the ministry's duty to the Ministry of Environment, Space Planning and Infrastructure, denying there is divisions in Vetevendosje, but there are disagreements in certain issues. The asked patient whether this decision of Ali is telling [...]
Durmish asked whether Aliu's decision is an indication of a rift in Vetevendosje since he is not seeing the party's nomination for Parliamentary Speaker, he said that Libun Aliu is neither an MP nor a candidate for deputy or a member of the leadership in Vetevendosje.
He, although reserved to give a comment about Ali's decision, which he said was not aware of, said this is Ali's individual stance.
I don't know, ask Lieburn Ali about the matter. Lieburn Aliu is not an MP. He wasn't even an MP candidate. He's not a member of Headship in Vetevendosje. It means decisions in the Vetevendosje Movement are taken in the structures of the Vetevendosje Movement. It's the way a political organization works. We can then occasionally disagree on various issues, which are discussed in the General Council, then at Headship. But when decisions are made in large measure, they are democratic decisions that are respected despite any disagreement that anyone could have about” -- Durmish replied when asked by Calco.com, whether this Ali's decision, which is his end in Vetevendosje.
Aliu in his announcement of his resignation said the reason for his resignation relates to the election of Dimal Basha Kosovo Assembly Speaker.
My resignation comes after yesterday's election of Kosovo Republic Speaker of the Assembly. Yesterday, after the vote at the Speaker of the Parliament, I have announced Prime Minister Kurti's decision to” - he wrote on Facebook.
Aliu has said he considers yesterday's election of the Speaker of the Parliament, the highest institution, where the laws are established and accountable to the government, “is not in the spirit of that ideal for the Republic that has been and remains the reason for my commitment”.
Lieburn Aliu in the February 9th elections has not even run as Vetevendosje deputy.
After many attempts to find a candidate who would ensure the majority, at last Dimal Basha, amid political controversy, was elected chief speaker with 73 votes per, 30 against and 3 abstentions, out of a total of 115 MPs present in the hall in 26.08.2025.
