Today deadline for handing over candidate lists for local elections is closed

At midnight, the deadline for political subjects to apply for certificate and hand over lists with candidates for the October 12th 2025 elections, where citizens will choose mayors and the composition of municipal municipalities.

Central Election Commission spokesman Valmir Elezi has remembered that the application process, launched on 26 June, closes tonight at 23:59.

According to him, each political subject decides for itself whether to compete only for mayorship, only for municipal assembly or both, as well as in which municipalities will participate.

So far, the CEC has certified 10 subjects, two civic initiatives and eight independent candidates, with a total of 64 candidates.

Of them, five aim at the post of mayor, while the other 59 compete for seating in municipal congregations.
