During the basketball match played Saturday between Northern Macedonia and Romania, part of the fans present in the hall erupted with anti-Albanian choirs.
According to agency INA, which has published the images, in the cheers of fans, is heard to say: “Le understand the cursed Albanians, the Macedonian name will not disappear, clean, clean, clean Macedonia”.
This was the refrain of calls that were clearly heard from part of the fans in the stands, while the present authorities took no action to stop the hate language.
The Koreas continued despite the presence in the hall of Prime Minister Hristian Mickoski, Kumanovo Chairman Maksim Dimitrievski, Foreign Affairs Minister Panco Toshkovski, Deputy Prime Minister Ivan Stoilkovic and other senior state officials. This was not the only provocative moment in the match.
During its development, other scandalous and inciting calls of ethnic hatred, such as the infamous “slogan, were heard The good Albanian is the late Albanian”, as well as the <x2) gas chamber for Albanians”, which commemorates the darkest rhetoric of European history.
After the match ended, there was no official response, public distance or apology from organisers or institutional representatives for the incident.
To these calls, Northern Macedonia's first Deputy Prime Minister, Izet Mexhit, has reacted sharply.
“object sharply to racist and anti-Albanian calls heard during the basketball match. Disparaging words and hate - inspiring songs have no place in our state and society”, Medge wrote in his public response.
He added that these actions constitute a direct attack on co-existence and equality, which according to him, make Northern Macedonia a unique state.
Even Deputy Prime Minister Arben Fetai has reacted sharply after the episodes of xenophobic and hate speech directed to Albanians during the World Cup qualifying match at Basketball 2027, held yesterday night between Northern Macedonia and Romania.
Through a statement published on social networks, Fetai described this behavior as a “shameful object to the values of respect and fair play that sports should represent”.
“Ksenophobia and hate speech, regardless of which side it comes from, have no place in our stadiums, in our society, nor in our common future”, he said.
Fetai urged fans, sports authorities and responsible institutions to take decisive measures to stop this dangerous phenomenon, stressing that silence or inaction only deepens hatred.
“As a state, we should promote inclusion and respect in all aspects of life, including sport. Let us work together to build a northern Macedonia where division is not an option and where diversity is our strength, while unity our pride”, he concluded.
The Democratic Union for Integration has also expressed the indignation and the deepest revolt over the scandalous event that took place last night in Kumanovo. /Alsat/Klankosova. tv
