A Mitrovica Serb and her partner, a member of the Croatian Air Force, have been arrested in Vis, Croatia, under suspicion of spying on Serbia. In addition to Croatian police, Europol has been involved in the investigation against them. Allegations are that the Croatian pilot has given his girlfriend secrets, and she has forwarded it to the Serbian List.
According to Croatian media sources “Index”, the two suspects were interviewed Wednesday and the decision is now expected against them.
According to information, the Croatian pilot was also engaged in KFOR in Kosovo and he allegedly gave his Serbian girlfriend confidential information to convey later to members of the Serbian List. According to “Indexit”, the suspect provided information to his partner on the movements of Serbs in northern Kosovo since the end of 2022 this year, as well as on KFOR troop movements.
Among other things, investigators suspect he revealed important information regarding Zubin-Potoku, one of the troubled municipalities between Serbs and Kosovo Albanians in the north.
Zubin-Potoku has been a country of blockades, protests and conflict between local Serbs and Kosovo authorities, as well as international forces, KFOR and EULEX.
Both are also accused of exchanging information concerning the transport of arrested Serb Dejan Pantic, former Kosovo police officer who is accused of participating in attacks on CEC offices in northern Mitrovica.
His arrest in December 2022 had sparked tensions by Kosovo Serbs in northern municipalities with barricades located in Jarinje and Brnjak lasting for nearly three weeks, with the only requirement -- the release or transfer of Pantic from prison.
Since Kosovo has no helicopters, the Interior Ministry requested KFOR's assistance in the transfer of Pantiqi from the police base near Jarinje to another prison. After about 19 days, the court had decided to bring him into house arrest.
According to Croatian media, the alleged Serb has worked for a foreign company in Serbia and the journalist is known as reporter by Mitrovica.
They were arrested on July 25th this year. The Croatian pilot has been taken into custody, while a decision to expel Croatia had been taken and placed at the foreign centre in Trilje. “Index” reported that investigators have found communication on their phones through which they concluded they were part of the spying activities./Periscopi/
