Svechla, in his reaction, wrote that crime has no place in our society, and there is specifically no place for criminals in the police ranks.
I commend the Kosovo Police Inspectorate for yesterday's action, where four citizens were arrested, including a senior Kosovo Police officer. Crime has no place in our society, especially no place for criminals in the police ranks. Supporters and at the same time insist on more determined actions of the Inspectorate, that the police ranks be cleared of such elements that tarnish the name of the more creditable institution and with the highest credibility in the country”, he has declared.
Svechla added further that, Kosovo police should be the address of combating crime and never, ever and in no housing and shelter circumstances, and shield of criminal activities.
Otherwise, the Constitutional Prosecutor in Prizren, in close co-operation with Kosovo Police Inspectorate (IPK), has conducted a co-ordinated action that has resulted in the raid of four locations in Prizren's town and the arrest of four suspected persons.
According to the official announcement, this action is the result of a several-month investigation, which has been implemented by IPK investigators, in full co-operation with the Constitutional Prosecutor in Prizren.
Among those arrested is former regional Police Director in Prizren Nexmi Krasniqi.
He is suspected of involvement in criminal acts of obligation and avoidance from taxes, sanctioned under the Penal Code of the Republic of Kosovo.
Investigations on the ground are continuing, while the IPK has recommended the suspension of the suspected colonel as part of the administrative procedure.
The prosecution and IPK have stressed that they are committed to fighting any form of criminality, including when suspects are public officials.
