Central Election Commission spokesman Valmir Elezi has indicated that this institution is in the preparation phase of the election process and is currently addressing the challenges it faces in the last elections.
In a response to Radio Kosovo, Elez says that in this direction, it is working on preparing the electronic platform for broadcasting preliminary results following the counting of ballot ballots in the country, which will also serve for the introduction of data from the count of ballots at the Municipal Counting Centres. He says the CEC aims for the October 12th to publish the preliminary results of candidates for the heads of municipalities and political subjects that are in the race for Communist countries.
“According to the Law for General Elections, the number of ballotings will be made at locations and at the Municipal Counting Centres. In the elections for the Comune Mayor, the number of votes of candidates will take place at the polls, following the closure of the voting process. In the elections for Municipal Framework, the number of votes of political subjects will take place after the vote ends, meanwhile, the counting of votes for candidates of political subjects will take place at the Municipal Counting Centre”, Elesi told Radio Kosovo.
Otherwise, the coalition of NGOs Democracy in Action in the February 9th election survey report stressed that the voting process was accompanied by some irregularities and violations, mainly of the procedural nature. The report says that “Technical Process with the electronic system of publishing the results of the Central Election Commission (KQZ), shown just hours after the voting ended, created great confusion and reduced public confidence in transparency of the process. This situation led to the use of manual processing and comparison results, since mathematically impossible results were previously reported, inaccurate voter exit data, and other problems with results forms”.
Leaders of the Kosovo Democratic Institute, contacted by Radio Kosovo, have said they hope some of the recommendations pertaining to technical issues are improved by the CEC. /Periscope/
