According to CEC data, the total number of candidates, representing these political subjects, is 380 candidates, out of whom 25 candidates for mayors and 355 for members of the Communist Assembly.
Meanwhile, two political subjects who were before to get approval for the certificate today did not pass.
CEC member from the Democratic League of Kosovo Sami Hamiti said the appointment of the civic initiative “The introduction of Pristina” is contrary to the principles of the Certificate of political subjects, as according to him, this appointment is very similar to the context and historical identity of the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK).
He stressed that the “League of Pristina” was used by the LDK itself in the past, specifically in the 2017 elections, where it was part of the party's official communication on its page.
In this regard, the director of the office for registration, certificate and financial control of political parties in the CEC, Besnik Buzhala, said that although at first there have been serious doubts about the appointment “Pristina's introduction”, following deepening legal and practical reviews, they have concluded that there is no legal basis to reject the certificate of this political subject.
However, after being put to the polls by five votes per, one against and several abstentions, the Certificate of the civic initiative “Pristina's introduction” was refused.
Also, the Office for Recording, Certificate and Financial Control of political parties in the CEC has drawn from the list the civic initiative “Movement for the Albanian Union”, due to spelling error in “Albanian”
The CEC member of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo Muharrem Nitaj and the CEC member of the Vetevendosje Movement, Alban Krasniqi, were expressed against the Certificate of this subject.
Nitaj said the name of the subject contains a clear spelling error, specifically in the word “Albanian”, which should be written “Albanians”
Nitaj said such mistakes are not formal or performable issues, but are directly related to national identity.
When the director of the Office, Besnik Buzhala, tried to explain that it is a definition of the subject itself, Nitaj firmly replied that it is not a matter of their discretion to write the word “Albanian” as they wish, but that they should respect the standard spelling of Albanian language, especially when it comes to naming the nation.
Meanwhile, LVV member Alban Krasniqi said that if the letter is not changed, he will not vote for the certificate of this initiative. / KP/
