CEC: Up until now a thousand and 729 applications from abroad for local elections

From July 23rd, when the Central Election Commission opened the application period to be registered outside Kosovo for the October 12th local elections, until today 0900 CEC has accepted a thousand and 729 applications, of which a thousand and 239 have been approved. CEC spokesman Valmir Elezi told RTKlive [...]
CEC spokesman Valmir Elezi told RTKli that the application period will last until 29 this month, until it has shown the reasons why an applicant is rejected.
“So far (day, August 3rd, 0900) through the electronic platform have been accepted 1,729 voter voting applications, of which 1,293, already turned down 490. In most of the rejected cases, applicants have not submitted one of the documents proving his address outside Kosovo: identification document in which the residence address is listed, local authority confirmation, rent contract, service receipts, document issued by the bank or security company, document proving the address of the person they are temporarily staying in, further residential testimony to specific cases (reservation hotel, dormitory, etc.) explained Elez.
But, the CEC spokesman has said the voter registration process outside Kosovo is not exclusive. This, since, according to him, a rejected applicant can re-appreciate after meeting the criteria required by the CEC.
“in cases when an application is refused, this is not the final refusal. Under these circumstances, the CEC will regularly and personally inform the applicants rejected for the reasons for their refusal to demand and that they will be able to re-apply through the platform for registration by attaching the documents needed to meet their application in line with CEC guidelines. This will be possible as long as the registration period” lasts, clear Elesi away.
But in municipalities where there can potentially be a run-off, should voter registration be done again outside Kosovo?
“Jo”, said spokesman Elezi, who clarified that voter registration for the October 12th election will be worth the run-off.
“In the second round of mayoral elections, the right to vote outside Kosovo is only the successful registered voters outside Kosovo during the application period and those municipalities in which the second circle will be organised. So there won't be a new voter registration process abroad, because the same voter list” will be worth, he indicated.
It has reiterated that in local elections, under the Law for General Elections, voters outside Kosovo can only vote through mail.
“This law clearly specifys that voting on diplomatic representation does not apply to these types of elections. So there will only be a vote by mail, and for this the CEC will open mailboxes in various states, where a package of balloting” can be sent, Elez said.
Central Election Commission spokesman has added that by 29 August all Kosovo citizens living abroad can apply to register as voters outside Kosovo. Application for registration should be individual and can be made: via the CEC's electronic platform https://diaspora.kqz-x.org or via mail sending the application to the CEC mailbox in Kosovo. /Periscope.
