He stressed that the United Nations must remain a place where all peoples can be heard, “especially those whose future depends on the” dialogue.
The exclusion of Palestinian representatives undermines the very principles of multilatheralism and international law”, he added, stressing that the path to peace requires “more dialogue, not less”.
The US decision to deny and revote visas for Palestinian officials, preventing them from participating in the UN General Assembly next month in New York comes at a time when some Western states are preparing to recognise a Palestinian state.
