Split County State Prosecutor's Office confirmed only today that it had opened an investigation against them for spying, the KP reports, broadcasts Periscope.
The pilot is accused of a more serious form of crime, for which he could be sentenced to up to 10 years in prison, since according to the prosecution he discovered classified information.
His partner faces one to five years in prison after allegedly collecting classified information and broadcasting it. It was ordered to remain in custody, due to the risk of escape, for which it could provide bail in continuing the investigation.
Although the prosecution demanded that they be ordered to remain in custody because of the risk of repeating the crime, the court concluded that this could not happen again because the pilot is no longer committed to the mission in Kosovo.
J.I., he was allegedly giving his partner information available as a member of international forces.
J.I. and A.M. They met in 2016 in Kosovo. At that time, J.I. was a member of the Croatian contingent in KFOR, while A.M. She worked as an interpreter in EULEX.
Their relationship has been constant, intermittent, for nine years. A.M. has often come to Croatia over the years, where he was eventually arrested on the island of Vis.
The pilot allegedly confirmed to investigators who were questioned after the launch of these procedures that his partner sent only weather data that was important to his flight.
He denied they have exchanged confidential information. However, according to the prosecution, he gave her data on KFOR forces movements and positions, and it conveyed them using encrypted apps.
He himself, according to the prosecution, admitted he assumed A.M. could trade classified data. The investigation will continue to shed light on what was precisely involved. Concretically, A. M. was also employed as a mediator, or a person on the ground for numerous media teams.
The charges are based on messages that investigators found on their mobile phones. Thus, among other things, they corresponded to the 25 December 2022 event, when KFOR members were attacked in Zubin Potok.
A.M. wrote to her childhood friend Vladimir Radivojevic, known as Mom, one of the representatives of Serbs from northern Kosovo.
Mom is also linked to the terrorist attack in Banjska in 2023, and in 2024, an indictment was filed against him before Kosovo Special Prosecutor.
Investigators consider the message that A. M. sent him as controversial, writing: “You must clarify the attack on KFOR as best you know.”
That same day, her pilot boyfriend sent her a message: ”
In her defense, A.M. He confirmed he works for the German secret service BND, according to Croatian media.
