The American Embassy in Tirana has distributed information confirmed by the American media.
Each canceled student visa under Trump Administration has occurred because the individual has either violated the law, or has voiced support for terrorism while in the United States”, it is written in the embassy post.
By Fox NewsThe Trump administration has launched numerous initiatives aimed at limiting immigration and revocation of visas for those attending academic institutions in the US.
Those who have participated in pro-Palestinian protests have faced increased scrutiny, and State Secretary Marco Rubio said in May that the administration was reviewing the visa status of these students.
About 6,000 visa withdrawals were mainly due to exceeded visa deadlines or clashes with the law, including attacks, driving under the influence of alcohol, theft and support for terrorism, the State Department for Fox News said.
“Every student visa revoted under the Trump Administration occurred because the individual either violated the law or has voiced support for terrorism while in the United States”, a senior State Department official said in a statement for Fox News.
Only about 4,000 visas have been revoted because these visitors have violated the law during their visit to our country, including data on attacks and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. ”
Those who had been robbed of student visas due to the attack nearly 800 students either faced arrest or charges stemming from the attack, according to State Department official.
Those whose visas have been removed due to support for terrorism between 200 and 300 people have been involved in such behaviour as the collection of funds for the militant group Hamas, which the US State Department has declared a terrorist organisation, the official said.
In all, the State Department told Fox News that approximately 40,000 visas were withdrawn in 2025, compared to 16,000 that were reduced during the same period of time under the Biden administration.
“Even if the previous administration was doing less, they were still replaying visas”, the State Department official said. “It's not something that just started on January 20th... So this has been for years. ”
Rubio told lawmakers in May that he estimated that <x0m>mira” student visas had been cancelled since January.
“I don't know the last count, but we probably have more to do”, Rubio told lawmakers in the Senate's subcommittee budget sharing that supervises foreign affairs on May 20th. “ ”
However, the Democrats have rejected the Trump Administration's efforts to revote visas, claiming it is a violation of the regular legal process.
I think it's a fundamental attack on freedom, because the regular legal process is the protector of the gate to keep a government away from the removal of life or freedom of people, and freedom is what happens when you remove a visa without regular legal process”, Senator Jeff Merkley told D-Oregon, Rubios on May 20th.
A student visa allows those outside the United States to study in the country for a specified time at an academic institution. It is different from a green card that allows an individual who is already in the United States and is not an American citizen to stay in the country.
The tough move on student visas coincides with some executive orders President Donald Trump signed in January aimed at protecting the US from foreign terrorists and other national security threats, along with fighting anti-Semitism.
One of the executive orders instructed the State Department and the Department of National Security, the Attorney General and the Director of National Intelligence, to “inspect and control to the maximum extent possible all foreigners intended to accept, enter or are already inside the United States, especially those from regions or nations with identified security risks”.
A separate executive order Trump signed ordered the US to use “all available and appropriate legal means to prosecute, dismiss or hold accountable the perpetrators of illegal harassment and violence”. /Periscopi/
