Some things are getting very difficult. The elections have nothing to do with democracy alone. It is not only about the election process, but also about state governance, and it is becoming increasingly difficult. We are all aware that there is a huge polarization in the world today between the left and the right, and it seems that many leaders want to have 100 percent right, earn everything. But, you know, politics needs to be compromised. This is a global phenomenon.
The problem in Kosovo is that Kosovo is a very new state. Kosovo is not part of Euro-Atlantic structures, so it is more sensitive. Therefore, Kosovo is in a more difficult situation right now.
We heard about the difficulties in paying salaries for some of the journalists in RTK. I saw that the ombudsman institution came out yesterday with a warning. I believe this is jeopardising the democratic functioning of the state. So I think we are in a serious situation”, Sweden's Ambassador to Kosovo, Jonas Westerlund, told Online Economy.
