Albania's embassy lies at the presidency of Government: Mefail Shkodra was not invited to any activity

Mefail Shkodra, the most controversial person in recent days and the prime suspect in the triple murder that shocked Gjilan on Sunday, is appearing to have had close ties with important political figures in the country. In some published photographs, he is seen near President Vjosa Osmani, her husband, the incumbent prime minister [...]
In some published photographs, he is seen near President Vjosa Osmani, her husband in office, Albin Kurti, as well as incumbent Minister of Internal Affairs Xhelal Svechla of the Pristina chairman, Progress Rama.
Following the publication of these images, the Kosovo presidency reacted by denying Shkodra's close recognition, saying the photo was taken during a festive activity organised by the Embassy of the Republic of Albania in Kosovo, where, according to them, Shkodra has been present as guest. However, this version has personally rejected the Albanian Embassy.
The embassy has declared that Mefail Shkodra has never figured on guest lists for any official activity.
In response to your request for information, we inform you that, based on official data from the Embassy of the Republic of Albania in the Republic of Kosovo, the person in question does not appear on guest lists for any of the expectations or official activities organised by our diplomatic representation,” is said to be responding to the embassy.
“Ambada of the Republic of Albania in the Republic of Kosovo follows and monitors developments in the country carefully and reconfirms that national Mefail Shkodra has not been on any list as invited to any official activity organised by this Embassy,” have declared from the embassy for Insider.
Even the incumbent Kurti government has denied that Mefail Shkodra, the suspect in the triple murder in Gjilan, would have been invited from her to the event where she was photographed with top state figures.
Government spokesman Progress Kryeziu has declared that the event is not organised by the government, but by the Albanian Embassy in Kosovo.
He has accused PDK deputy Abelard Tahiri of public lies over the issue.
“Z. Abelard Tahiri today publicly and knowingly lied to him. He today, at a media conference, although the MP knowingly joined the social networking campaign through which the stain of Prime Minister and Kurti Government is aimed and its connection to the Mefail Shkodra hand through a photograph. MP Tahiri publicly deceived when he said that photo was fired at a state reception organised by the Government of the Republic of Kosovo.
“Although I know that event is, in fact, the reception organised by the Albanian Embassy in Kosovo on the note of Albania's 110th anniversary of independence. You know, because he was invited and present at the same event in 2022, as the following photograph shows. And when he deliberately and publicly speaks falsehood, then there is no credibility left to say anything else”Kryeziu wrote on Facebook.
Despite conflicting statements, it remains unclear who invited and why Mefail Shkodra to that event, as well as how he ended up pumping with the highest figures in the state.
Mefail Shkodra's criminal past
Sunday's (August 10th) event was not Mefail Shkodra's first clash with the law.
In 2024, he was arrested during a extensive Kosovo Police operation in three regions of the country for the criminal acts of “Fide” and “task”.
In that case, in Gjilan, he was arrested along with another person, and a third was declared on the run. According to Gjilan's Prosecutor, financial damage caused by the suspected group reached the upper 600 thousand euros.
The victims had reported that they had faced constant threats and pressure to pay off debts with high and illegal interest rates.
Shkodra associated with Kurt, Osman, and Rama
Beyond the criminal scene, Mefail Shkodra was active in social networks, often publishing photos of luxury cars and extravagant lifestyles.

In some of them, it appeared in the presence of prominent political figures, including Prime Minister Albin Kurti, President Vjosa Osmani, Pristina Chairman for Progress Rama, and Interior Minister Jjelal Svecla.
