The Albanian MP in Switzerland sends the letter to the Federal Council: I expressed concern for media freedom, power interventions in RTK

Albanian MP at Bernton, Korab Rashi, has indicated that he has sent an official letter to the Swiss Federal Council and the heads of political parties to express his concern over the state of freedom of expression and the independence of the media in Kosovo, with particular focus on the situation at Radio Television. [...]
In the letter, Rashi has stressed that the government in transition, led by the Vetevendosje Movement, has appointed politicised persons to public enterprise boards, including RTK, and has intervened in programd content.
“emissions are being programmed and moderators have left just because they did not comply with the political line of the past government. These interventions pose a serious risk to rule the law, institutional independence and media freedom”, he stressed.
Rashit has clarified that the letter was written and delivered to official languages for Swiss institutions, while for public communication it is translated into Albanian.
“As a citizen of Switzerland and Kosovo, I remain committed to democratic values and strongly believe that freedom of expression and independence of the media are the irreplaceable foundations of any functional democracy”, Rashi added.
