At QKUUK patients face not only the lack of drugs but also the most basic material. From the test test testes at the Clinic of Pediatrics to the surgical fibers at Interne Clinic, family members say that they are being forced to buy these tools themselves, often with instructions from personnel on where to find them. For these shortages, KSFUK has not returned answers to the TIME questions since August 4th.
In addition to drugs, patients at the Kosovo University Clinical Centre (QKUK) have been forced to buy basic materials, which should be secured from the state budget.
Parents of children say that they have had to buy even testes for urinary analysis at the Clinic of Pediatrics.
A parent from Ferizaj shows that his 4-year-old daughter had urgently brought him to Pristina, and during medical procedures it was reportedly missing.
You know exactly what the drugs are. Plus they tell us where to go, which drugstore to buy. We're told to go to that drug store, that's where you bought it”, the parent of the child who received health services in the Paddyr has complained.
And at Interne Clinic, a patient who had been operated says that he had to buy surgery wires.
I had a blood wish. I've been operating” in five days, this patient showed it.
Except for the lack of drugs, Djurofci laments that his daughter's service was not performed, even though it was recommended to make the ultrasound.
They wrote it down and now they have questions. They're spinning us down and down, they're not doing it to”, Djupofci complained.
KOHA reported earlier on how in April of this year the SHSKUK has linked a contract for supply of basic materials worth over 3m euros to the company “Medekos”, with a 45-day supply deadline.
Last year, this company had also won a three-year contract worth about 6.9m euros for supplies of spare materials, including gloves, coins, infusion sets, needles and syringes.
COHA has sent questions to SKKKUK as of August 4th to provide information about the supply mechanism in clinics and the reasons for shortages, but so far there has been no response from central management or clinics.
And since there are shortages of drugs and other basic products, Hospital Service and University Clinic (SHSKUK) has awarded new contracts for five companies that have not recently supplied this institution with previously contracted products.
According to official documents published by USKKUK, a total of 16 contract disregardable economic operators were fined during 2024, while in the first quarter of 2025, 30 operators. The documents show that most of the fines have been pronounced for non-reference or delay in handing over contracted products.
Despite this history, five companies have been rewarded with new contracts, which have high values./Periscopi/
