About 200 COSTT workers start strike on September 2nd for salary increases, Union says they are facing pressure

Independent Union of the Operator of the Kosovo Broadcasting System and Market (KOSTT) Chairman Arben Plana warned that from September 2nd about 200 workers will strike, following the failure of the agreement to reach the pay raise management. He said the strike would take place at its minimum for [...]
He said the strike would take place at its minimum not to jeopardise electricity supply and international agreements.
Plana said after three protests and meetings with management no agreements have been reached.
After the three protests we've staged with the management, we met, but we couldn't reach a pay raise agreement. Management said you caught us unawares, but it's no surprise. We actually held three protests. Every week by protest. We've also established the legal mediator to reach agreement, the union lawyer. We have warned on September two, a strike expected to be held at the workplace. We've gone with the minimum strike. The reason is that we know COST is a vital interest in the country and we can't stop everything because we're for electricity. We have international agreements, international lines, so we're going with the minimum. But for starters, we're going on strike one hour from the first three days of the week on September two. The last two days we're going in two hours and we're going four hours a day in the second week. That's the minimum minimum. We are waiting for reflection, waiting for the ZERE, the Government, to enable and facilitate all of these workers and solve the problem”, he said.
The union head said workers are facing pressure from management.
There is actually pressure on leaders, on directors, manager of workers. These guys are looking for who gets to work to know and those who don't claim to be at work and are on strike to get them killed and fired. This is a threat we can say is a psychological threat”, he said.
He added that the strike would be legal and would be held with voluntary participation.
There's been some 100 and something on the protests, so there's been a time of vacation, on strike they can get more, but this is voluntary. There's no implantation, there's nothing on our side to enter the strike at will, so the strike will be great legal”, he told EO.
Regarding the wage requirements, Plana said they were not raised in line with inflation and promises made.
“Pages are 618 euros, salaries for units that are on the ground, even lower. But when the current is expensive, they say that as the current gets expensive, the wages will rise. Last year there has been a discriminated up, where only 37 euros has been increased for 10 years. 37 euros is the increase for technical support staff. We've asked for growth that the government has made: 110 euros of basic salary, but we haven't gone much more than inflation.
For example, for 10 years inflation has increased and purchasing power has dropped for 240 euros. We in the Union have 200 members affected by this” salary, he said.
Plana made it known that from the third week, a total strike has been warned.
We from the third week have warned there will be a total strike, but the total strike does not mean that nobody will operate, because the vital staff is also with the law of vital interest that is KSF and electricity supply. But we're going to do the interview just where the emergency is, where the strike council” is named, told Online Economics, Plana./Periscopi/
