Officials say that more than 100 people have disappeared, as heavy rain caused devastating floods in the northern Indian state of Uttarakhand.
Rescue operations are under way in the Uttarkashi district, as a huge wave of water ran down the mountains towards the village of Dharali on Tuesday, flooding roads and buildings, television reports BBC, broadcast Periscope.
Some army teams are in Dharali by Tuesday, but other disaster response forces and district officials have failed to reach the area because of damaged roads and heavy rain.
Local media reports reportedly four people have died, but officials told the BBC they have not recovered any bodies yet.
About 130 people have been rescued so far in Uttarkashi, the regional prime minister in Uttarakhand, Pushkar Singh Dhumi, said before reporters Wednesday morning.
Officials said at least ten soldiers who were stationed in the village of Harsil have also disappeared. /Periscope/
