Ukraine's president, Volodymyr Zelensky, has expressed the desire to have a face-to-face meeting with Russian enemy counterpart Vladimir Putin.
In his communication, Zelensky has indicated that dialogue with Russia is ongoing, for the exchange of prisoners. He added that the Ukrainian side is already working on the next exchange of kidnapped persons.
“Dialogue with the Russian side for the exchange of prisoners is ongoing. We are continuing to implement the agreements reached during the previous Istanbul summit. Our team is currently working on another” exchange, he said.
Zelensky, stated Secretary of the National Security and Protection Council, has proposed that a meeting between the Ukraine-Russia parties be held next week to boost the pace of negotiations and reach a ceasefire.
“Secretary of the National Security and Defence Council Umerov also reported that he has proposed another meeting with the Russian side for next week. The pace of negotiations must increase. Everything must be done to reach a truce. And the Russian side must stop hiding from decision-making. The prisoner exchange. The children's return. The end of the murders.”, Zelensky said.
But the Ukrainian president said the Ukraine-Russia meeting is very necessary, but at the same level of leaders, meaning a confrontation between Zelensky and Putin. Zelensky said he is ready for such a meeting, but seems to expect Putin's approval of it./Periscopi/
