Kadri Kryeziu, former deputy chairman of the Constitutional Court, has voiced his concern over the request President Vjosa Osmani has sent to the Constitutional Court for clarification on the legal consequences in the event of failing to comply with the 30-day term for the constitution.
Kryeziu estimates that the demand has had to be done much earlier and that the president's action in recent days creates the impression of political tact.
He also considers Osman's request for the temporary suspension of the constitutional deadline problematic, naming it a “error, absurd and out of the spirit of duty to protect the constitutional functioning of the” institutions.
According to him, the Constitutional Court has no authority to suspend a provision that flows directly from the Constitution, from Article 66 respectively. Kryeziu sees this as a surprising act by the President.
