Trump warns visit to China

United States President Donald Trump said he may visit China soon, a warning coming at a time when trade and security tensions are high. Vice President of [China, Xi Yingping] has invited me to China and we will probably make this visit in the future not much [...]
China's “President Xi Yingping has invited me to China and we will probably make this visit in a not too distant future”, he told reporters at the White House Oval Office.
Not right away, not too far. I've been invited by a lot of people, and we're going to make these decisions very quickly”, he added.
The Reuters agency has reported, calling to two sources, that the aides of Trump and Xia have discussed a possible meeting among leaders during a trip to Asia that Trump will realise later this year. But these reports were not confirmed by the Chinese or American side.
Trump made comments on the meeting with Xia during a meeting with Philippines President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., a key ally in the Pacific who, according to Trump, has successfully left China's influence.
Trump has been aiming to lower tensions with Beijing in recent weeks, as bilateral trade tariffs, which have shaken trade and global supply chains, have been suspended.
He has been aiming to set tariffs for almost all foreign goods, arguing it will boost domestic production.
He has proposed a 10% base fee for all goods imported from all countries, with higher rates for several individual states, including China. Imports from China currently face the highest tariff rate of 55%.
President Trump has set 12 August for reaching a stable tariff agreement between the United States and China. / REL/Periscopi/
