Trump sues Wall Street Journal regarding reports of the Epstein case

American President Donald Trump, has indicted the Wall Street Journal and its owners, including Rupert Murdoch, asking for at least $10 billion in compensation, as the newspaper reported that his name was in a birthday wish for Jeffrey Epstain in 2003, containing a drawing with implicit sexual content [...]
The indictment, handed over to the federal court in Miami, mentions Rupert Murdoch, Dow Jones, News Corps and company executive chief Robert Thomson, as well as two Wall Street Journal journalists. The indictment claims they slandered Trump and caused him major financial damage and image damage.
Epstein, a funder and convicted of sexual trafficking, committed suicide in a prison cell in New York in 2019.
The case against him has prompted conspiracy theories and became famous among Trump supporters who believe the Government has concealed Espstein's ties with rich and powerful people.
Trump said he shared the streets with Epstein before the financer's legal problems were made public in 2006.
President Trump denied reporting the Wall Street Journal, and earlier warned Murdoch that he intended to sue. Dow Jones, the newspaper's mother company, is a branch of News Corps.
“We just filed a lawsuit. FOOOD against all who were involved in publishing false, malicious, slanderer and T WALKING in the worthless newspaper, such as The Wall Street Journal”, Trump wrote on his Social Truth platform.
“I hope Rupert and his enemies face witnessing for hours for this case”, Trump added.
A Dow Jones spokesman said in a statement: “we have full confidence in the accuracy of our reporting, and we will be strongly protected against any indictment”.
The indictment described the false “” as the alleged birthday hunger of Trump and said the Wall Street Journal published the article in order to damage the image.
It seems that the article does not explain whether indictees have obtained a copy of the letter, have seen it, described it, or any other circumstance that would give credibility to Article”, said the indictment.
To win the slander case, Trump must testify that indictees acted with “real ill will”, which means they knew the article was untrue or have deliberately neglected the truth.
The Epstein case has caused concern at the White House after the US Department of Justice this month came to the conclusion that there was no evidence supporting the past conspiracy theories about Epstein's clients and his death.
Some of Trump's most loyal supporters were angry when his administration changed its stance and gave up the promise to publish the files on the occasion.
On July 7th, the Justice Department said Epstein killed himself and there were no “customers involved” or data saying Epstein had blackmailed powerful people.
Trump said on Thursday he has instructed Attorney General Pam Bond, to ask the court to issue evidence given before the Great Jury in the Epstein case.
A day later, the U.S. government asked the federal court in Manhattan to publish the transcripts of the Great Jury in the Epstein case and his former associate, Ghislaine Maxwell.
Maxwell was found guilty in 2021 over her role in the sexual abuse of minor girls by Epstein. Maxwell is in the process of appealing a 20-year prison sentence to the U.S. Supreme Court. / REL
