Speaking at the conference for the reconstruction of Ukraine held in Rome on Thursday, Ukrainian leader Voldomyr Zelensky announced that Germany was ready to finance two of the Patriot systems, while Norway would cover another. He also announced that other European countries were willing to help.
In this regard, during an interview for NBC News, Trump has said he will make a large “declaration” for Russia on Monday, without specifying what it would be about. But he has added that “NATO will repay the entire cost” for weapons to be sent to Ukraine.
We remember that NATO is financed by its members' contributions, including the US.
According to the BBC, in the interview, Trump has said he will send weapons, including Patriot air defence systems, to Ukraine through NATO.
“In a new deal”, Trump has said that “will send Patriots to NATO, and then NATO will distribute them”, adding that NATO will pay for these weapons.
Trump's statement comes after Ukrainian President Zelensky spoke of a positive “dialog” with Him for securing the arrival of arms, especially air defence systems. Zelensky has confirmed that he has requested 10 Patriot systems, following a new wave of fears and Russian missiles to Ukrainian cities last week.
