At the start of a private visit to his golf field in Scotland, the US president wrote in “Truth Social” that both states “have agreed to meet immediately to reach ceasefire agreements quickly and, in the end, God damn it!
He added that he expects to resume trade talks with Cambodia and Thailand, but stressed that it is not appropriate for these negotiations to develop “until LUFTES” are stopped.
Since the outbreak of the conflict on July 24th, at least 33 soldiers and civilians have lost their lives, while thousands of Thai and Cambodian citizens have been displaced.
Trump's intervention comes a week before American tariffs for Cambodia and Thailand are implemented. By August 1st, American businesses importing goods from these two countries will have to pay a tax of 36%, unless preliminary agreements are reached. /Periscopi
