US President Donald Trump said within the next 24 hours it is expected to be known whether the Palestinian militant group Hamas will accept a “final proposal” for ceasefire with Israel at the Gaza Strip, follows Periscope.
According to Trump, Israel has already agreed on terms of a 60-day ceasefire, during which it will be worked to end the conflict.
“We will see what happens, we will learn over the next 24 hours,” said the president, questioned whether Hamas has accepted the US-backed proposal.
A source near Hamas said on Thursday that the Islamist group wants guarantees that this proposal will lead to a full end of the war. On the other hand, two Israeli officials said details of the agreement are still under way.
Meanwhile, the situation on the ground remains serious. Ten Palestinians were killed Thursday in Israeli attacks, according to Gaza authorities.
During his statement, Trump also confirmed that he had talked with Saudi Arabia about expanding Abraham's agreements, aimed at further normalising relations between Israel and Arab countries.
