The basis for this agreement has been laid since last summer with a joint statement by British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and former German cacerre Olaf Schelz, while two officials from London have said the text for the treaty is almost complete.
The signing of the agreement is reportedly due to come on July 17th, before parliaments enter summer vacation.
In other details, the key chapters of the treaty reportedly include a special part for defence, which is built on the Trinity House Agreement signed last year, determining that any strategic threat to one side will be considered a threat to the other.
Politico writes, such a thing would provide Germany with a mutual aid clause with both European nuclear powers, in accordance with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz's wish to strengthen the continent's capacities independently of the United States.. /Periscopi/
