The Texas compounds are still continuing their search for some

Research is still continuing today for two groups of girls in a Texas camp, as immediate floods in the area killed at least 24 people at the beginning of the weekend and encouraged the rescue of hundreds of others.

Authorities said flood waters Saturday were being drawn to the area around the Guadalupe River, about 137 km northwest of San Antonio, where at least 237 persons were rescued, with more than 100 survivors from helicopters.

Another 23 to 25 persons from summer camp “Camp mystic” are still missing, most of whom are reported to be young girls. River waters rose at speeds of 29m near camp, Reuters writes, broadcast Periscope.

The US National Weather Service said the emergency of immediate flooding has largely ended up in parts of the Kerr District in Texas Hill County, about 105 km northwest of San Antonio, following storms that brought up to 30cm of rain early Friday.

However, a flood warning remains in force until 7 pm Saturday from the San Antonio-Austin region, Texas, with pouring rains expected throughout the day, said Allison Santorelli, a meteorologist at the Weather Forecast Centre in College Park, Maryland.

“As far as the Guadalupe River is concerned, the extreme flood waters have withdrawn,” she said. “is no longer the extreme phase of flooding. And we don't expect additional effects”.

US President Donald Trump said on Friday that “would take care of them” when asked about federal aid for the disaster.

State emergency management officials had warned that on Thursday that western and central Texas would face torrential rains and immediate flooding threats “over the next two days”. /Periscope/
