High temperatures interrupt corruption trial against former Education Director in Drenas

The chairman of the court, Judge Gent Beka, announced the parties that the Court has accepted the requested documentation from the Drenas municipality, which was the reason for reopening the procedure.
Due to high temperatures and restrictions on working hours until 2: 00 p.m., Judge Beka found there are no conditions to continue the session and set a new date for holding it.
Otherwise, the Constitutional Court in Pristina on March 5, 2020, had declared a free trial against accused Tahiraj, arguing that he had not proved to have committed the criminal act for which he was charged.
To that decision, within the legal term the complaint had exercised the Constitutional Prosecutorship in Pristina, proposing Apel, the adoption of a complaint, changing the plea, so that the accused could be found guilty or the case could be turned into retrial. Praising the complaint, according to complaints, but also according to official duty, Appeal has found the same is involved with violations of criminal procedure provisions.
Thus, Appeal on February 8, 2021, has annulled the first - degree liberation act by converting it into restoration.
According to the indictment filed on August 29, 2018, Sadik Tahiraj in the quality of the official person, while in the position of the director of the Municipal Education Directorate in Drenas, has taken advantage of the official duty or authority by overstepping his competencies. The indictment is said to have done so with the aim of benefiting any benefits for himself or for the business organization “A&I Group” S. P.K and “Al Trade” S.P.K.
According to the indictment, from the beginning to the completion of capital projects, the construction of the wood and coal depot at the Low Intermediate School “Rasim Kichina” in Drenas and the renovation of the Ule-Stilling Middle School “Rythyria” in Dobrosec, have been carried out without any respect for any procurement procedures.
According to the charge act, for the project to build wood and coal storage at the Low High Start School “Rasim Kichina” in Drenas, which “Al Trade” S.P.K. It was supplied during 2015, with construction materials, without respecting any procurement procedures based on the Memorandum of Understanding between defendants and the top company.
The incident says the renovation of the summit of the Low High Start School “Renaissance” in Dobrosec, where “A&I Group S. P.K. has done the work during 2016, and no procurement procedure in oral agreements with the defendant has been respected.
The accusations act, says that the Drenas municipality has been damaged in this case and has had to pay by private owner the amount of 17.043.50 euros. While, for the project to build wood and coal storage at the Low-Ut High School “Rasim Kichina” in Drenas, it is said it has had to pay the amount of 8.454.31 euros.
The former education director in Drenas, Sadik Tahiraj, has been charged in yet another case, on September 21, 2018, he was sentenced to six months in prison on bail, after being convicted of misuse of official office.
In the next case, however, where he was co-accused was also the former head of Drenas, Nexhat Demaku, the two indictees have been acquitted.
In this case, under the indictment of Tahiraj in 2014, he misused their official duty, disregarding public procurement procedures regarding the oil supply (antifision) for central heating of the school “Rivitre” in the village of Dobroshec of the Drensa Town.
