PLOVATION:
The Central Labour Inspectorate has accepted the news of the serious accident on July 21st 2025 in a workplace in the Gjakova municipality, which resulted in the loss of two workers, and has passed away another person who had previously been injured in another workplace accident in Pec.
On behalf of the Central Labour Inspectorate and the quality of the Executive Director, he expressed the most sincere and profound condolences for the families of the victims, sharing the pain with them at these times.
The Central Labour Inspectorate has committed itself to all its human and legal capacities to investigate the circumstances of this case and to bring responsibility to all those who have not implemented legal obligations in the field of security and health at work. We inform you that the subject where the accident occurred has been twice fined by the Labour Inspectorate for repeated violations in this field. This makes it even more unacceptable that proper measures have not been taken to protect the lives and health of workers.
Public and institutional awareness appeal
Since workplace accidents pose a serious threat to citizens' lives, we call on all employers, business subjects and relevant institutions to take concrete and immediate measures to prevent risks in the workplace, in line with the Law on Safety and Health at Work, and sub-legal acts in force.
Call for Media Co-operation and Communication
The Central Labour Inspectorate invites all media to contribute to general social awareness, through fair information and the spreading of sensitive messages on the importance of preventative measures in the workplace. Only through genuine cooperation between institutions, businesses, organisations and the media can we build a secure and dignified working culture for all our citizens.
The Central Labour Inspectorate will continue with dedication its inspection and law enforcement work to increase the level of security in workplaces so that such tragedies will not be repeated.
Continued institutional security efforts at the workplace
In the continuation of unbroken efforts to create a more secure and dignified job environment for workers in the Republic of Kosovo, the Central Labour Inspectorate has taken concrete steps to further strengthen inspection capacities through the recruiting procedures of new inspectors.
In this context, a procedure for recruiting 60 new inspectors has been developed, which has been cancelled on the part of the Independent Council for the Kosovo Civil Service.
Despite this administrative obstacle, the Central Labour Inspectorate has not halted efforts and is currently under way to recruit 59 new inspectors in which the procedure has completed all candidate assessments.
With hope and full dedication, our aim is to successfully finalise recruiting this time, in order to increase the presence and efficiency of field inspectors, and to significantly improve monitoring and implementation of legislation in the field of security and health at work.
