According to The Guardian, 31 signatories of a letter sent to the newspaper include the Oscar award winner, Yuval Abraham; former Israeli Attorney General Michael Ben-Yair; Avraham Burg, former chairman of the Israeli Parliament and former head of the Hebrew Agency; as well as some winners of the prestigious price of Israel, the highest cultural honour in the country.

The letter also states:<x0). The international community must impose devastating sanctions on Israel until it halts this brutal campaign and implements a permanent ceasefire. ”
The letter is important both for direct and open criticism of Israel and for breaking a political taboo that support strong international sanctions. This, in a country where politicians have promoted laws against those who call for such measures.
The letter was issued at the same time when it became known that over 60,000 Palestinians were killed in the 21-month war between Israel and Gaza, according to the Ministry of Health in Gaza. /Periscopi
