The Special Prosecutor has said he has no competence to assess or approve any infrastructure project, but that it is his duty to act when there are doubts about misuse of public funds.
“Special Procurory doesn't have it compatible to assess or approve any infrastructure project, but we stress that the role of The SP is to act based on law enforcement, in cases where there are doubts about misuse of public funds. The SP, through five committed prosecutors, currently has nearly 2,000 stem contracts in treatment. Based on this, the Special Prosecutor has authorised the Kosovo Police to take the necessary investigative actions in order to fulfill the right situation in the case, in line with the Criminal Procedure Code. This investigation does not involve any opposition to the project in question, but in fulfilling legal obligations, in defence of public interest and rule of law, in order to ensure a fair and legal management of public resources”, the SP report said.
On July 1st, the stones of two new bridges connecting the town of Mitrovica were placed.
New bridges are being built near the main bridge over Iber, which is part of the Movement Freedom Agreement reached within the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue. /Periscope/
